". . . I like too many things and get all confused and hung-up running from one falling star to another till I drop. . . I had nothing to offer anybody but my own confusion."--Jack Kerouac

Hi Folks!

So, you've come to my own web page. I guess I need to fulfill your desires to get to know the real me.

Where to start? I am Meredith. You already knew that? OK. I am the youngest of four Peiken children. My parents, Rhoda and Alan, are really cool people. My father is a pulmonologist, and my mother works for the American Lung Association.

My eldest brother is Andrew, and his wife is Shayna. They have a son, my nephew, Aaron, and one on the way. The little one should be here in April.

My other brother may be second on the list, but he definitely is no second-class guy. Daniel is married to Brandi, and they have to be the most artsy couple I know. Daniel is doing real estate now, and his hobby is painting, while Brandi takes wild flower photography. Brandi recently was hired by Athens Regional Medical Center in the Diabetes Education Department. They have a few web pages that are a must see (www.downhomeinternet.com; www.sweetdiabetes.com; www.athenshome.com).

My one and only sister is Debra. Ryan is her man, and Ansley is my in-utero niece. Ansley's due in March, and I cannot wait!

Yes, we are quite a clan, but the Peikens are no ordinary family.

Now on to the last, but certainly not least--ME. I am a recent graduate of the finest institution in the state of Georgia.

GOOOOO DAWGS!!

My major was psychology with a minor in criminal justice, but you can read all about my credentials on PIKE'S PAGE.

Let's Get Personal

Everyday I experience something new to add to myself; yes, I am growing up. There are so many beautiful and wonderous things in the world that can make me a better person, and I want to experience each and every one!

A few little tid-bits about me, since you are interested. I enjoy good music, good art, good movies, and a good book. Right now I love folky music like Neil Young. My collection of music is growing thanks to Napster and Daniel. My favorite artists are Ansel Adams, Van Gough, and Daniel Peiken, and my author of choice is Jack Kerouac.

On a more serious note, because I can be quite serious. I have Type I Juvenile Diabetes.
I was diagnosed January 1998 with the disease. It was quite a shocker because at the age of eighteen I thought I was invincible. Although my life is altered, it definitely is not any less sweet. Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger. This past summer, I was placed on the Insulin Pump, which has changed my life completely. To learn more about Diabetes, check out the American Diabetes Association's site. Daniel and Brandi also have a diabetes-based site under construction: www.sweetdiabetes.com.
